The GFIA mobile app features real-time flight departure and arrival information, updates on parking availability at the airport, and security wait times. Additionally, amenities such as food and beverage locations, kids play areas, nursing rooms, and the military welcome center are featured on the app. Passengers can also connect with airport ground transportation options available at the airport.

Connect to our free WiFi by setting your SSID to FlyFord. Accessible in terminal and concourse areas. WiFi compliments of the GFIA Authority.
Charging stations are available in the airline gate areas. Power is available via AC and USB ports.
Beginning October 10th, 2024, all electric vehicle charging stations will be temporarily closed for upgrades.
At no additional cost, eight universal electric vehicle chargers are located in the Short Term Parking area.
While the chargers accept most major brands, users are encouraged to bring their vehicle’s adapter. No app is needed — just plug and charge!
Family restrooms are located on the east end of the Grand Hall, in the Marketplace across from Starbucks, on Concourse A next to gates A1, A4, A8, A7, and A12 and on Concourse B next to gates B2 and B6.
Have a private and comfortable space for nursing, equipped for their special needs for breastfeeding and/or pumping while traveling.
GFIA has two nursing rooms available:
Find two aviation-themed playrooms for kids pre- and post- security for hours of entertainment.
GFIA offers two aviation-themed Kids Port play areas where little ones can burn off energy and have fun waiting for their own flight or waiting for Grandma and Grandpa's plane to land. Both rooms include foam tile flooring, scenic graphics on the wall, toys, and kid-friendly seating. The post-security playroom also has a replica airplane while our pre-security Kids Port has a replica helicopter and air traffic control tower. The Kids Port play areas were made possible thanks to a partnership with Spectrum Health Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.
Service animals are welcome in all public areas of the passenger terminal building, and an animal relief area with wheelchair accessibility is available in the west end of the terminal curb front and post-security on Concourse A.
Guide dogs and other assistance animals are welcome in all public areas of the passenger terminal building. Please be advised that assistance animals are required to be screened when entering the sterile area of the terminal.

In compliance with the U.S. Department of Transportation Air Carrier Access Act Rule, the airport provides a pre- and post-security animal relief area for service animals that accompany passengers at the airport. The pre-security animal relief area is wheelchair-accessible and located at the west end of the terminal curb front and provides Mutt Mitts, trash receptacles, and benches. The post-security animal relief area is located at the beginning of Concourse A near Gate A4.
GFIA guests with pets are free to access the designated pre-security animal relief area as well.
Handicap parking is available in all parking lots, and our shuttles are equipped with wheelchair lifts.
Our paging system is available to patrons who use T-Coil compatible assistive hearing devices.
Our paging system is available to patrons who use T-Coil compatible assistive hearing devices in the public areas of the main terminal Grand Hall and Concourses A & B. Please note: The T-Coil System is not accessible in the restrooms or food & beverage and retail concessions spaces.

Not sure if your hearing aid supports T-Coil technology? Check with your audiologist. We are pleased to be able to offer this technology to improve the travel experience for our patrons with hearing loss.
GFIA provides a variety of options to assist wheelchair users throughout the airport.
We have wheelchairs available for guest use, and airline personnel will be happy to assist you with boarding and exiting the aircraft. It is always best to arrange for wheelchair assistance when booking your flight so that your airline communicates the information with airline and airport personnel across your entire travel route.
To request wheelchair assistance specifically for your needs at GFIA, you can call (616) 550-7643 in advance of your arrival and speak with a representative of Prospect Airport Services. Or when you arrive at the airport, you can go to your airline's ticket counter or to the Visitor Information Desk in the baggage claim area, or you can request a page for a Passenger Service Assistant and wheelchair assistance from a curb front security officer.
An elevator is available on the north side of the main hall for those who would like to visit the observation deck on our mezzanine level or those visiting the Airport Authority offices.

A companion care restroom with an adult changing table is offered in Concourse A near gate A8.
The Gerald R. Ford International Airport is proud to participate in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, a global initiative aimed at providing support and assistance to travelers with hidden disabilities.
As part of this initiative, airport staff and partners have been trained to recognize the Sunflower symbol and provide assistance and accommodations accordingly. Passengers with hidden disabilities can request a free Sunflower item at the Airport’s Visitor Information Desk and security screening checkpoint.

The Gerald R. Ford International Airport Authority is proud to offer a Sensory Room, located at the beginning of Concourse A. This new area is designed to offer support to travelers with sensory sensitivities.
The Sensory Room is intended to provide a therapeutic setting that helps individuals feel comfortable in their surroundings. The space is designed to minimize overstimulation and provide a calm and inclusive environment for individuals of all ages with cognitive and/or development disabilities.
Developed in partnership with Disability Advocates of Kent County, the Sensory Room is intended to provide a calm and controlled setting that offers a sense of familiarity for travelers. The space is divided into four different zones, including:
The Sensory Room is open to travelers and can be accessed through a call button next to the entrance door.
ATMs (provided by PNC and Fifth Third Bank) are located pre-security in the front lobby behind the Visitor Information Desk. Independent ATMs are also provided post-security on each concourse in the main hallway near the Grand Rapids Magazine Travel Store.
ReadySTATION® kiosks instantly convert cash into prepaid cards. Cash goes in—any value up to $1000—and a prepaid card instantly comes out, fully activated and ready to use anywhere in the world that accepts prepaid debit cards. It costs just $5 to buy a card.
Mail and package drop boxes for the United States Postal Service and FedEx are located in the front lobby behind the Visitor Information Desk. USPS mail pieces must already have postage affixed. There are shipping labels available at the FedEx kiosk. These drop boxes can only accept envelopes and small packages.
Currency exchange services may be available through your bank. Local branches of Chase Bank, Fifth Third Bank, and PNC Bank provide this service for most currencies. Some may charge fees so you may wish to call ahead and inquire.
Put your best foot forward and treat yourself to a shine at Cyndee's Shoe Shine Service, located in the passenger terminal main hall next to the business center. Need to reach her? You can call (616) 893-3152.
CLEAR Mobile delivers predictable airport security for travelers by accessing a dedicated lane located at security screening checkpoint, simply by showing a QR code. Free to CLEAR Plus Members, the CLEAR Mobile Lanes are available to all travelers by purchasing a day pass—valid for 24 hours.

The Military Welcome Center is open to military members, veterans, and their families 24 hours a day. The center offers charging stations, an airport arrival/departure monitor, and lounging space, as well as veteran profiles and programming offered by WGVU and PBS. There are also interactive maps and murals where military personnel and veterans can pinpoint where they have been stationed or deployed.
The Military Welcome Center is provided through a partnership with SpartanNash and GFIA. SpartanNash is the leading distributor of grocery products to U.S. military commissaries and a grocery retailer and food distributor headquartered in West Michigan for more than 100 years.
Complimentary business centers are located in the Grand Hall, in the Marketplace post-security, and on Concourse B across from Gate B1. Additional areas equipped with seating, work surfaces, and electrical outlets are located throughout Concourse A and on Concourse B in front of the MI Tap Room.
The airport's WiFi service is available throughout the airport. Set your SSID to FlyFord to access the WiFi.

Room rental fees may be paid by cash, check, or credit card at the Airport Authority Administrative office. All fees must be paid in advance of the reserved date and time.
Please note: We recommend making reservations 48 hours in advance; and the reservation is not guaranteed until you receive confirmation from an authorized Airport Authority representative.
Experience all Grand Rapids has to offer. At GFIA, there are two convenient ways to get the information, directions, and assistance you need when arriving at the airport. The airport's Visitor Information Desk is located across from baggage claim in the front lobby. Here you will find maps, brochures, event information, and other helpful resources that are available 24/7; and the Visitor Information Desk is staffed from 9:00AM to midnight, seven days a week. Staff at the desk can assist you with needs both at the airport and in the community. You can also go to the desk if you need to page a passenger or visitor at the airport.
You may also spot an Airport Ambassador in a light blue coat walking around the airport to answer any questions you may have. Equipped with a tablet computer and a smile, these individuals are visible throughout the passenger terminal building, ready to provide assistance on the spot. From a hotel recommendation to how to get there and what there is to eat and do in between, these Ambassadors will have it all available at their fingertips.
