ROOM RENTALS - Why rent a meeting room at the airport?

You've probably been meeting people at the airport for years. But you may not have realized it's an excellent place for meetings, period!

The choice of available rooms varies almost as much as the ways you could use them. Your company's human resources department might reserve one of our smaller rooms to interview job candidates (local or flown in). A law firm might also find them ideal for conducting depositions efficiently when one or more of the parties involved are from out of town.

Does your West Michigan company bring personnel from other offices to Grand Rapids for meetings? One of our larger rooms might be a convenient and time-saving alternative to transporting groups of people to a location far from the airport. Clubs, organizations, and families might also find our rental rooms desirable for extra privacy and convenience.

Perhaps you need to coordinate arrivals and departures for a large group or convention. Our special events counter may be just what you’re looking for. Conveniently located near other ground transportation options in the east ticketing wing, the special events counter provides you with a dedicated, professional area to stage your meeters and greeters. Along with the space, rental of the special events counter will also allow you to provide signage in the terminal to direct your guests accordingly.

To reserve a room, you may complete the rental agreement and fax it to 616-233-6025 or email it. Call 616-233-6044 for assistance or additional information. Room rental fees may be paid by cash, check, or credit card at the Airport Authority Administrative office. All fees must be paid in advance of the reserved date and time.

Please note: We recommend making reservations 48 hours in advance; and the reservation is not guaranteed until you receive confirmation from an authorized Airport Authority representative.

We've gone wireless!

The GFIA passenger terminal facility is equipped with a wireless Internet network. Your wireless-enabled laptop or mobile device can get you to the Internet anywhere within the terminal and concourses. Set your SSID to: FlyFord.

Wireless Internet access is available compliments of the Airport Authority.

Charging Stations

Charging stations are available in the airline gate areas. Power is available via AC and USB ports.

Family restrooms are located on the east end of the Grand Hall, in the Marketplace across from Starbucks, on Concourse A next to gates A1 and A4, and on Concourse B next to gates B2 and B6.

Kids Port Play Rooms

The airport has two aviation themed Kids Port play areas where little ones can burn off that energy and have a fun waiting for their own flight or waiting for Grandma and Grandpa's plane to land. Both rooms include roam tile flooring, scenic graphics on the wall, toys, and kid friendly seating. The post-security play room also has a replica airplane while our pre-security Kids Port has a replica helicopter and air traffic control tower. The Kids Port play areas were made possible thanks to a partnership with Spectrum Health Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.

Nursing Rooms

A private and comfortable space for nursing mothers; equipped for their special needs for breastfeeding and/or pumping while traveling. We have two nursing rooms available; pre-security next to the open stairwell across from Starbucks, and post-security across from Starbucks in the Marketplace.

Passengers with physical disabilities requiring special arrangements are advised to contact their airline in advance of their flight to discuss their specific needs.

Assistance Animals

Guide dogs and other assistance animals are welcome in all public areas of the passenger terminal building. Please be advised that assistance animals are required to be screened when entering the sterile area of the terminal. For more information on the screening of assistance animals, please see the TSA website pages dedicated to this subject.

In compliance with the U.S. Department of Transportation Air Carrier Access Act Rule, the airport provides an animal relief area for service animals that accompany passengers at the airport. This wheelchair-accessible area is located at the west end of the terminal curb front and provides Mutt Mitts, trash receptacles, and benches. GFIA customers with pets are free to access the designated Animal Relief Area as well.

Handicap parking is available in all airport parking lots. Complimentary airport parking shuttles, which service the economy parking lot, are wheelchair lift equipped. For those patrons parking in the garage, elevators are available to the skybridge both in the garage and in the passenger terminal facility.

T-Coil Loop Paging System

Our paging system is available to patrons who use T-Coil compatible assistive hearing devices in the public areas of the main terminal Grand Hall and Concourses A & B. Please note: The T-Coil System is not accessible in the restrooms or food & beverage and retail concessions spaces. Not familiar with the T-Coil compatible hearing loop system technology? Here is a great video that explains it! Not sure if your hearing aid supports T-Coil technology? Check with your audiologist. We are pleased to be able to offer this technology to improve the travel experience for our patrons with a hearing loss.

Wheelchair Assistance

The airport has wheelchairs available, and airline personnel will be happy to assist passengers with boarding and exiting the aircraft. It is best to arrange for wheelchair assistance when booking your flight. However, to request wheelchair assistance when you arrive at the airport, you can go to your airline's ticket counter or to the Visitor Information Desk in the baggage claim area, or you can request a page for a skycap and wheelchair assistance from a curb front security officer.

An elevator is available on the north side of the main hall for those who would like to visit the observation deck on our mezzanine level or those visiting the Airport Authority offices. Security Screening Advice for Passengers with Disabilities or Medical Concerns (from www.tsa.gov)

Military Welcome Center

The Military Welcome Center is open to military members, veterans, and their families 24 hours a day. The center offers refreshments, charging stations, an airport arrival/departure monitor, and lounging space, as well as veteran profiles and programming offered by WGVU and PBS. There are also interactive maps and murals where military personnel and veterans can pinpoint where they have been stationed or deployed.

The Military Welcome Center is provided through a partnership with SpartanNash and GFIA. SpartanNash is the leading distributor of grocery products to U.S. military commissaries and a grocery retailer and food distributor headquartered in West Michigan for more than 100 years.

ATM / Cash Machines

Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) at GFIA are provided by PNC and Fifth Third Bank. They are located pre-security in the front lobby behind the Visitor Information Desk and post-security in the Marketplace. Independent ATMs are also provided post-security on each concourse in the main hallway near the Grand Rapids Magazine Travel Store.

ReadySTATION® Kiosks

ReadySTATION® kiosks instantly convert cash into prepaid cards. Cash goes in—any value up to $1000—and a prepaid card instantly comes out, fully activated and ready to use anywhere in the world that accepts prepaid debit cards. It costs just $5 to buy a card.

Mail & Package Drop

There are mail and package drop boxes for the United States Postal Service and FedEx in the front lobby behind the Visitor Information Desk. USPS mail pieces must already have postage affixed. There are shipping labels available at the FedEx kiosk. These drop boxes can only accept envelopes and small packages.

Currency Exchange

There is not a currency exchange service located at the airport. We recommend that you contact your personal bank to inquire about this service. Many banks require a 3-7 day lead time to convert currency so plan ahead and be prepared.

Shoe Shine

Put your best foot forward and treat yourself to a shine at Cyndee's Shoe Shine Service, located in the passenger terminal main hall next to Starbucks. Need to reach her? You can call 616.893.3152.
